  About the Society
King Saud University is a public university in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, founded in 1957 as the first university in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It was renamed King Saud University (KSU) in 1982. The College of Medicine at KSU was established as the first medical college in the Kingdom in 1967. King Saud University Medical City (KSUMC) is a tertiary care academic medical center with decades of experience in multi-facility and multi-disciplinary administration. The world-class health care complex includes more than 1,300 full-time physicians, 853 residents and fellows, and approximately 2,072 allied health personnel who collectively provide care to more than 1,229,628 outpatients, admit 45,966 patients and perform around 14,231 procedures every year. The medical city's physicians comprise of renowned experts in various clinical disciplines, who are complemented by a competent team of allied health, administrative, and support service staff. The medical city aims to transform integrated healthcare management through the joint promotion of education & training, care provision, and research on all fronts. There were 6994 graduates since the establishment of the College of Medicine, 4654 males, and 2340 females. The College offers 97, including diplomas, master, board, doctorate, and fellowship programs. The College (with its affiliated hospitals) is considered one of the largest postgraduate training centers in the Gulf region. It has also been attractive for many Arab nationals who come to do their fellowship training with the College. Graduates of this college are the current leaders of the medical sectors in Saudi Arabia in the ministry of health as well as all major hospitals and healthcare sectors in the Kingdom. Many graduates have also gone on to pursue postgraduate and fellowship training all over the world. They have proven their excellence in all international programs with excellent pass rates in board exams and fellowships. They are all around the country, serving patients, and spreading the knowledge that they have gained. To further testify for the leadership of this college and quality of its programs, it has been ranked 97th in the world in the Times QS ranking of world universities in the field of Medical and Biological Sciences in the year 2009.   About the Journal

Journal of Nature and Science of Medicine, a publication of the College of Medicine, King Saud University, is a peer-reviewed print + online Quarterly journal (4 issues per year). The journal's full text is available online at www.jnsmonline.org. The journal allows free access (Open Access) to its contents and permits authors to self-archive final accepted version of the articles on any OAI-compliant institutional / subject-based repository.

Digital Archiving

Wolters Kluwer Medknow provides for long-term digital preservation through two primary partnerships, Portico and CLOCKSS.

Portico is a leading digital preservation service worldwide. The content is preserved as an archival version and is not publically accessible via Portico, but is provided when required under specific conditions, such as discontinuation of the collection or catastrophic failure of the website.

CLOCKSS will enable any library to maintain their own archive of content from Wolters Kluwer Medknow and other publishers, with minimal technical effort and using cheaply available hardware.

Ahead of Print policy

Articles published online under the Ahead of Print model are considered published and can be cited and quoted using the DOI as the reference source. Wolters Kluwer Medknow has a policy that changes will not be made after publication of an article without following accepted procedures for making corrections to the scientific record.

Advertisements

While advertisements are crucial to this journal to be able to keep all content free for everyone, ethical considerations are in place to ensure the integrity of the journal and its content:

  • "Pop-up" and "banner" ads appear on a random, rotating basis. The advertiser has no control or input over the pages where their ads appear.
  • The Editorial Board has full and final approval over the content of all advertisements.
  • Advertisers will never be shown any manuscripts or other content prior to publication.

  Scope of the journal

Journal of Nature and Science of Medicine (JNSM) is an international peer-reviewed medical journal published on behalf of the College of Medicine, King Saud University. The journal aims to the continuing professional development of all medical specialties by publishing papers on a wide range of topics relevant to the practicing clinician and the basic science researcher. Articles published in JNSM include outstanding research in all branches of clinical practice, translational medicine, medical education, public health, cross-cultural medicine, policy, and general topics of interest to the biomedical research community. The journal publishes several types of articles including original clinical and basic biomedical research; brief reports (small-scale research or research that is in early stages of development); reviews; quality improvement reports; editorials; viewpoints; and correspondence on clinical matters.  There are no submission fees, no page or other publication charges, and no subscription fees.
